This project involved the Kitchen in a 1910 Vashon Island home.

This began as an insurance claim after the Ice maker water line and the upstairs bathtub supply lines gave out as a result of the failure of the local water service's pressure regulator. The water had caused both the ceiling and the floor to require repairs.

The existing Kitchen was a combination of a built-in-hutch, original to the home, and a 1970's remodel. The owners chose to take this opportunity to combine the monies from the Insurance settlement, and their own funds to completely renovate and update their kitchen.

The wiring was updated to provide adequate service to all of the modern appliances, new recessed can lights as well as hanging lights were added. New plumbing shut-offs and supply lines were installed to the plumbing fixtures.

The vinyl was replaced with a "Pergo" floor with a ceramic tile landing was installed at the back entry door. Insulation was added to the ceiling and exterior walls, and the cedar shakes were removed from the wall.

The dark stained doors and trims were refinished with a White Enamel. The owners chose a White beadboard style cabinet with a Blue laminate countertop.

Beadboard with a natural finish was used in several areas as well as to replace the cedar shakes. The tile used in the backsplash has been custom painted, and had been a gift to the family.

An exterior "grid" was installed on the Kitchen window, adding a very "economical" detail to the large window.

This remodel was completed with the cooperation of both local trades people and Island Hammer LLC Craftsman.
