This is a home located on the water in Apple Tree Cove in Kingston. This is the 3rd remodel of this beach cabin completed by the Owner of Island Hammer LLC. This last phase consisted of a complete 1st floor renovation, with an addition of 660 square feet on the front of the existing building.

During the planning stage we discovered that a significant amount of structural damage due to water penetration was present and would need attention as part of this renovation.

During the remodel radiant heat was installed in the main floor living areas, all of the existing interior walls and posts were removed as several significant steel beams were installed to support the 2nd floor above.

   

 

       
 
 

Also included as part of the remodel was the installation of a new gas fireplace. This fireplace was finished with "real river rock" on the face. Western Blue Slate was place on the floor as a hearth, and the mantle was completed using a recycled "Southern Yellow Pine" beam from a dismantled warehouse.

A new "walk-in closet" was added to the second floor Master Bedroom Suite, as well as an "exercise room" complete with an opening "roof window" to allow a view of Apple Tree Cove while staying in shape.

The main focus of the exterior is a 900 square foot 2 level Chinese Slate Patio complete with radiant heaters installed in the overhead to allow for this area facing the Bay to used during all 4 Seasons.
